In this article I am going to talk about, Pixel LED that made of an RGB LED driven by a WS2811 chip and SMD WS2812 Pixel LED.
One semiconductor manufacturer that has really changed the LED landscape over the past few years. Worldsemi is the first, who have a tiny little surface-mount control integrated circuit called the WS2811. This includes a simple single wire serial in serial out communication capability, three 8-bit PWM channels and current limiting circuitry.
Each Pixel Contains RGB LED + WS2811 Driver chip(IC). Working voltage may 5V or 12V DC, That’s depends on circuit design. So before powering, make sure for correct voltage.
Next we have the WS2812, which is a 5 mm x 5 mm square package containing super-bright red, green, and blue LEDs along with a WS2811 control chip as illustrated below.
Working Voltage is 5V DC. Fully Assembled LED Strip looks as below.
In Future Articles I will discuss on its working, choosing right Voltage types, Power Supply calculation and troubleshooting.
